Power and Benefits of Dhyana Mudra - Steps and Duration

This Mudra is important for one to achieve spiritual progress through meditation. To develop a deep concentration skills and builds his/her ability to focus within. But most of us are not aware why to do Dhyana, Dhyana Mudra is one of the Mudra which will eliminate our main problems like stress, insomnia and even controls our anger.

Steps:
  • ·Put together of your hands in your lap. Hands    must form the shape of bowls
  • ·Left hand must lie in the right hand plus both  thumbs should touch each other.
  • ·This is the customary meditation pose.
  • ·The two hands shaped into a bowl shaped into a  bowl shape show which we are privately freed,  pure, plus empty so as to receive the whole  thing that we require on our spiritual path.
  • ·As here is no bare space in the universe plus the whole thing is full of some slight energy. This    void made by our hands will turn into new empty space moreover will get filled by new energy.
  • ·In this rumination posture, bareness is brought to mind by Dhayana mudra, this way, your mind is selfish at the point of time. In common, this is very difficult. Our mind is forever wandering among the pools of opinion.

Effect: The palm contains heart related nerve centers and the back of the hand contains the spine related nerve centers. So, placing the palms one upon the other, activate the centers of heart, lungs, pancreas and kidneys on one hand and spinal nerve points on the other.

  • · It cools the mind plus helps it to get the stage of rudeness.
  • · Dhyana mudra assists to think in thought.
  • · Dhyana Mudra helps to progress in meditation; and the meditator gets pure thoughts and           attain peace
  • · This Mudra strengthens the muscles in the body. Blood circulation becomes normal.

Time Duration: No particular time duration for this dhyana mudra. You can practice while sitting, standing or lying on a bed whenever and wherever you have time.

Steps and Benefits of Kundalini Mudra in Yoga

Kundalini Mudra is associated with the reproductive energy. People from all around the world are turning towards the ancient practice of yoga, in order to reap its numerous benefits. Various hand gestures (mudras) and poses (asanas) in Yoga can help improve different aspects of your health.

Steps:
  • Both the hands should be in the form of a loose first.
  • Form a first of the left hand and extend the index finger. Cover the index finger with right hand  fingers and place the right thumb on the top.
  • Hold this Mudra in front of the abdomen for 15 minutes. Three times a day.

Effect: This Mudra enhances the Kundalini force and the energy is released.

Benefits:
  • Erase in sexual tensions and anxieties.
  • Awakens the sexual force or energy within yourself.

Yoni Mudra – How To Do And Benefits

This Mudra is specially designed for women. The posture of this Mudra is held at the level of abdomen.

The Yoni Mudra helps to completely detach from the chaos of the outer world and quiet the mind. Its name is derived from the word Yoni, which means "uterus", because like a baby in the uterus, the practitioner has no external contact with the world and, therefore, no externalization of consciousness.

Steps:
  • · Place your thumbs in the ear close to your ear holes.
  • · Close your eyelids by placing your index fingers on them.
  • · Push your middle finger on the either sides of your                      nostrils.
  • ·  Press your lips together with the remaining fingers
  • ·  Release your middle finger but keep inhaling and exhaling.
Effect:  As the thumbs and index fingers touch each other they reflect volume of heat and air waves. Other fingers remain interlocked would solve the problems of the womb.

Benefits:
  •  From the age of about thirteen girls have their periods and they get pain in the lower abdomen. Performing this Mudra only for 5-10 minutes relieves the pain
  • · Scanty or excess bleeding will be regulated
  • · Practicing this Mudra every day for 10 minutes followed by Prana Mudra will solve the                 menopause related problems.
  • · It is very useful for get rid of stress and depression.
  • · Balance the nervous system.
  • · Keep you always relax and rejuvenation of mind and soul.
  • · It is very helpful to develop the mental peace.
  • · Gives spiritual calmness and peace to your heart and mind.
Time Duration: No particular time duration for this mudra. You can practice while sitting, whenever and wherever you have time.

Apana Vayu Mudra, Steps, Benefits, Duration and Precautions

Apana-Vayu mudra is one of the most important mudras in healing mudras. It is also called as Mritasanjeevani mudra; this mudra can snatch a person away from the clutches of death! In the cases of heart attack. This Apana Vayu Mudra gives instant results and the pain is reduced immediately.

Steps:
  •       Sit down comfortably in the Padma Asana (Lotus Pose) or any other suitable posture. Breathe gently through your nostrils.
  •       Now touch the tips of the middle and ring fingers to the tip of your thumb. Your little finger should point straight out.

Effect: There is combined effect of Vayu Mudra and Apana Mudra. Vayu Mudra relieves the pain instantly and Apana Mudra maintains space to reinforce blood circulation to the heart.

Benefits:
  •         The Apana Vayu Mudra is supposed to be very beneficial for the heart.
  • ·        People with a history of cardiac ailments should practice this Mudra on a regular basis.
  • ·        The benefits of the Apana Vayu Mudra also extend to those who suffer from gastric problems such as heartburn and indigestion.
  • ·        This Mudra removes the blocks in the blood veins
  • ·        Cures Constipation
  • ·        Irregular heartbeats are regularised
  • ·        Too much perspiration in the feet and hands is pacified

Time Duration: Thirty to Forty-five minutes of regular practice is enough to get the right results of Apana Vayu Mudra. You can do it at any time or any place but in the early morning or while meditation is the best choice to get optimum result.


Precautions: If you are a Kapha Prakriti, then you should practice this mudra in moderation only.

Shankh Mudra – Steps – Benefits – Time Duration

This Mudra resembles the shape of a Conch and hence is called the Shankh Mudra.
In ancient times it was believed that blowing the Conch could send sound waves far and wide, thereby removing ill effects of the bad elements. This Mudra is used during worship while chanting hymns and Mantras.

Steps:
  • ·     Sit down in the Padma Asana or Lotus Pose. Keep your back straight and calm your breath.
  • ·     Close your eyes and visualize that you are sitting amidst a blue sea of calm water.
  • ·     Raise both your arms in front of your chest. Wrap all four fingers of your right hand around      your left thumb.
  • ·     Bring the tips of your right thumb and left middle finger together. The other fingers off your     left hand should be parallel to the middle finger.
  • ·     Your hands will form a shape like a conch shell, which is where the Shankh Mudra gets its          name from.
  • ·     Hold this Mudra in front off your sternum.
  • ·     Chanting Om (Aum) while practicing this Mudra further increases its benefits.

Effect: The thumb which represents the element fire is covered by the fingers hence fire is subdued. The union of left index finger and the thumb creates balance of wind.

Benefits:
  •          Feverish feeling in the body
  • ·        Burning in the body / body parts
  • ·        Allergic disorders especially skin rashes
  • ·        Voice larynx and throat pharynx problems
  • ·        Flabbiness
  • ·        Weakness, paralysis of muscles
  • ·        Helps in increasing height of children
  • ·        Kidney problems are cured.
  • ·        It also helps to calm and center the mind.
  • ·        It relieves stammering
  • ·        Shankh mudra reduces the pitta effect and increases the vatta and kapha humors in the body.

Duration: Practicing the Shankh Mudra for 45 minutes, or 15 minutes, three times every day is strongly recommended.


Precaution: People who have vatta and kapha dominant humour should perform this exercise a bit in moderation. It is because shankh mudra is known to increase both of these elements.

Linga Mudra: Steps and Benefits

This Mudra increases bodily heat as it reinforces the fire element. Linga Mudra is the best mudra to improve fire element in the body which helps to increase pita humor.

Steps:
  • ·       The Linga Mudra can be performed   while standing up or      seated.
  • ·      Bring both hands in front of your body  and clasp them so  that the fingers are  intertwined.
  •        Ensure that the left thumb is pointing vertically upwards and encircle it with the thumb and   index finger of the right hand.

Effect: The fire in the thumb is activated and is able to increase uninhibited.

Benefits:
  • ·        Hypothermia – Shivering and chills due to cold weather can be controlled
  • ·        Ailments caused by over production of mucus such as wet cough, colds, sinusitis etc. can be cured
  • ·        Asthma, bronchitis, T.B., pleurisy are cured
  • ·        Discomfort experienced in an air conditioned room is relieved by this Mudra
  • ·        Difficulty in breathing can be relieved by this Mudra immediately and one can get good sleep
  • ·        Regulates the flow of the menstrual cycle.
  • ·        It also helps to boost the immune system and makes the body more resistant to colds and similar infections.
  • ·        This Mudra also helps with weight loss.

Time Duration: This mudra can be practice only when there is a necessary. Linga mudra duration is 30 minutes.


Precautions: If you are suffering from fever or pita Prakriti, then don’t do this.

How to do Surya Mudra: Steps and Benefits

Surya means – the Sun. Surya Mudra generates heat in the body like Sun. This is achieved by covering up the ring finger which represents the earth element with your thumb which represents the fire element.


Steps:

  • ·       Stand or sit up straight.
  • ·       Hold your hands out in front of you.
  • ·       Bend the ring finger of each hand so that its tip touches the mound of your thumb.
  • ·       Press down on your ring finger with your thumb.
  • ·       Ensure that the other fingers are spread out straight.
  • ·       The Surya Mudra can be practiced for 45 minutes at a stretch or this can be divided into three sessions of 15 minutes each.

Effect: The element Agni is associated with body temperature and metabolism. Practice of Surya Mudra helps to maintain the body temperature and keeps the metabolism going. Hence this Mudra strengthens eyes and improves vision.

Benefits:

  • ·        Abnormally low body temperature
  • ·        Coldness of skin
  • ·        Coldness of body limbs hands and feet
  • ·        Shivering
  • ·        Absence of sweating
  • ·        High cholesterol in the blood
  • ·        obesity

  • ·        Indigestion
  • ·        Constipation
  • ·        Digestive problems


Time Duration: Regular practice of 30 minutes is enough to get maximum benefits of Surya mudra; you can do it any time or any position. Early hour of the morning or when you are in meditation is the best choice to get the best result.

Side Effects: The practice of this mudra increases fire element within the body. It will lead to increase body temperature. If you are having a fever don’t do this mudra. It reduces fat element within the body if you are underweight don’t do this mudra. Also, don’t do this mudra in summer or hot conditions. It increases Pitta humor and decreases Kapha humor.


Precautions: If you are a Pitta excess or Kapha deficient person then do this mudra in moderation only. These are the things you should consider to get all the benefits of Surya mudra.
